Our Junior Certificate Schools Programme (JCSP) Library is at the heart of the school community. The library is a busy but calm and welcoming space. Students and teachers visit to read, borrow books, do research and project work and use the IT facilities.
Staffed by a full time, professional librarian, Ms Éadaoin Quinn, students can use the library during some timetabled classes, before and after school and at lunchtimes.
The library stocks the latest books, newspapers and magazines. We have books to reflect the diverse interests of all our students including a careers and wellbeing section, graphic novels and books in other languages.
We provide a Digital Library Service to students and staff of Enniscorthy Vocational College. Ms Quinn will give you a password to access e-books and audio books on your phone or tablet anytime and from anywhere.
We promote arts and culture through the library with regular visits from storytellers, authors and poets. An annual trip to see a musical or play is organised through the library. In recent years we have seen War Horse and Matilda at the Bord Gais Theatre.
There are STEM activities throughout the year and for Engineers Week. Students can try coding and technical LEGO robotics.
The library supports teaching and learning with literacy and numeracy support (including the Accelerated Reader programme) and resources and help with research for Junior and Leaving Certificate projects and tasks.
Our Creative Writing Group meets in the library regularly with Ms Éadaoin Quinn and Ms Jessica Doyle. We have celebrated some wonderful successes in recent years with student work published widely.
The Mile Post News the popular official student newspaper of EVC work meets in the library and students are always welcome to get involved.
