Members of our Student Council, Digital Leaders and Meithal Leaders went to the Student leaders Congress 2020 in the City West Convention Centre, Dublin on Friday 17th January. The congress was organised by Cycle Against Suicide and highlighted the need for all students to look after their mental health. It was a contact based education event, which has been proven to be effective in reducing mental health stigma. Contact based education involves listening to people talk about dealing with their own mental illness. It was a positive and very uplifting mental health education day for the students, with high profile speakers and music acts Chasing Abbey and United Vibe in attendance. The trip was organised by Ms. Kennedy and Ms. Gallagher as an initiaitive for the school to retain their Amber Flag status. We all learned the message that "It's ok not to be ok and it's absolutely ok to ask for help"!
