Enniscorthy Vocational College and Coláiste an Átha were the two teams who emerged from the group stages of Division C1 Senior Hurling to contest the Wexford Final.  Having been successful against Meanscoil Inis Córthaidh and New Ross CBS in earlier rounds we were hopeful that we could produce a winning performance in the final.  Our hopes were very nearly realised, as just two points separated the sides at the final whistle.

After 60 minutes of end to end action the final score was Coláiste an Átha 4.12 EVC 3.13.  The result was always in doubt until the end and it is testament to the bunch of young men who represented EVC, that their fighting spirit prevailed until the end.  We led at half time by five points but defending against the wind for the second half was always going to be a difficult task.  Our boys were equal to that task but the all elusive winning goal was not to be, as they laid siege on theColaiste an Átha goalmouth.

John Murphy from the local Shamrocks club in Enniscorthy finished with a personal tally of 2.07 and Rapparees clubman Anthony Larkin stepped up to the mark when needed to deny the Kilmuckridge boys a second half goal from a penalty.  More than half the team are in action again next week in the Junior Final V New Ross CBS and we hope to go one step better and bring home some silverware.
