The Beast from the East was not going to stop World Book Day Celebrations at EVC!!

A rescheduled Drop Everything and Read was held on Tuesday 13th March. Librarian Ms Quinn, with a team of second year helpers, distributed over a 100 free world book day books and a selection of newspapers to Junior and Senior students. Everyone enjoyed taking a break from their work and relaxing with 20 minutes of reading for pleasure.

Celebrating numeracy with Mathemagician Leon Anderson
All First Years packed into the library to see maths magician Leon Anderson perform maths magic. There was wonder and amazement at Leon's number tricks. He shared a few of his secrets so with some  practice we expect a lot of maths magic around EVC.

First Year Spelling Bee
Following on the success of our Third year spelling bee, this was the turn of First Years.  Four teams of three students represented the four First Year classes. The standard was very high with all students consistently getting every spelling correct for the first two rounds. Slowly students were eliminated until it was a battle between Ciara Sharpe and Elizabeth Rollo with Ciara being the overall winner. Congratulation to all.
