Ms. Somers, Ms. English, Ms. Walsh and Ms. Lawless (SNA) brought 66 students from 2 Oak, 2 Holly and 3 Ash to the 54th BT Young Scientist Exhibition in the RDS, Dublin on Friday 12th January. The students and teachers thoroughly enjoyed the trip. There were 550 student projects showcased at the exhibition. Project titles included 'What makes a good science teacher?' - 'Investigating the amount of synthetic dyes in soft drinks and sweets' - 'Classroom CO2 levels and their effect on student cognitive performance', and 'The development of an anti-microbial smartphone screen protector' to name but a few. In addition to these exhibits, there were many interactive shows including a homemade hoverboard, a RSA car that spun the students upside down, freezing flowers in liquid nitrogen and robot wars. We hope that we have sparked an interest among these students and that we will have some entries for next year’s competition.
