LCVP Work Experience
Having written letters, postcards and cards over the last few months it was with great excitement that our 3 Holly class finally got to meet their Pen Pal from Selskar College in person. A joint project organised by the Librarians from each school, it was rounded off with a fun quiz and lunch hosted in EVC. With thanks to Liam Sharkey of EVC for technical support!
On Fri January 20th the Fifth Year students of Physics, accompanied by Mr Flynn, travelled to Waterford IT for the annual Tyndall Schools’ lecture. The title of the lecture was “The Life and Legacy of Robert Boyle” and was brilliantly delivered by Sheila Donegan and Eoin Gill, both lecturers in WIT. They were both dressed in attire typical of the period in which Robert Boyle lived. Sheila played the part of Robert’s sister, Lady Ranelagh, who assisted him in conducting many of his experiments. This lecture, being delivered in Waterford, was particularly significant considering that Robert Boyle was born in Lismore castle and lived there for part of his life.
Students of 3 Rowan invited WSPCA Inspector Cabrini to our school yesterday to speak about the issue of animal cruelty in Co. Wexford. All students thoroughly enjoyed the session which was both informative and shocking. Students hope to create an awareness amongst the entire school community on this issue.
On Friday last 20th January, EVC welcomed Anna Hayes, staff reporter with the Echo Group of Newspapers. She spoke to both 6LA classes giving them an appraisal of the work and skills required of the modern Journalist over the period of an hour and a half through a presentation and a follow up Q and A session with students.
