The Mile House Paper Launched

Extra! Extra! A new student newspaper, The Mile Post, has been launched at EVC. A team of student journalists and photographers have produced a quality publication. All of the content is written BY students and FOR students; a mix of latest news, articles, features, notices and a “what’s on?” section notifying students of the details of all extra- curricular activities and sports training times etc. This is the first of five issues to be printed this year.

Our Second-Level Open Night for incoming new entrants (September, 2018) will take place in the school on Tuesday night next 26th September - 6pm.-8pm.  This is a great opportunity for parents to meet our teachers, discuss educational options/subjects and view our excellent facilities.

Enterprise Club 2017 Launched

The E.V.C. 2017/2018 Student Enterprise Club was launched on Tuesday 19th September by Ms Emer Doyle Co-Ordinator of Student Enterprise, Local Enterprise Office, Wexford. The Enterprise Club is an after school club for first and second year students.  This club  will commence on Tuesday 3rd October at  4.10p.m.  Students can sign up  by calling to Ms A. Walsh in Room 201 for a permission slip. 

6th Year students attend Higher Options Day in Dublin

Our 6th Year students  went to explore their progression options at The Irish Times Higher Options Expo today. They were accompanied by Ms. Kennedy, Ms. Byrne and SNA, Amanda Montague. One student described it as 'the best day of my life' becoming aware of all the potential pathways of learning available after their leaving certificate!

EVC Orchestral Instrument group launch their 2017-2018 programme

A limited number of places are available in our instrument scheme this school year.  EVC students who wish to study Violin, Viola, Cello, Double Bass, Clarinet and Flute can apply now for a place in the scheme. Total fee is €50 per term. Parents/guardians can pay this fee online. No payment is to be made until requested. Tutors are professional musicians employed by the school. Forms are available from Ms. Brídín.Kelly in Room 25 and students are asked to return applications by Monday 11th September. We provide the instrument and books for each individual. The school expects that pupils treat equipment with great care at all times, while remaining the property of Enniscorthy Vocational College. Tutors rotate lesson times on Wednesdays so that students do not miss the same subject every week.

Induction Programme a great success

Many thanks to the staff members who gave generously of their time and expertise in the running of the Induction Programme for our new 1st year students. As in previous years, a wide variety of activities was laid on for our new recruits which gave them a chance to settle in to their new school and also an opportunity to make new friends.

Leaving Certificate Results 2017

Good Luck to all our Leaving Certificate students who will receive their results tomorrow Wednesday, 16th August.  Results will be available in the school from 9.30am. onwards.  

Orchestra Recital Ceremony

The annual award recital by the students of the instrumental scheme took place on Wednesday 24th May, kindly hosted by the JCSP librarian, Miss Éadaoin Quinn. In an informal setting with tea, coffee and scones, Conor Kenny, 2nd Year, began the concert with a traditional air, “Star of the County Down,” on clarinet. Continuing the traditional theme, 1st year Darren Levingstone played “Boolavogue” on flute. Rhian Tyrell Wright 3rd Year delivered a fine rendition of ‘Strangers on the Shore’ and Serena Casey played a beautiful Allegro from her recent exam selection.  Ms. Ann Wickham currently teaches woodwind in the college. Students, parents, extended family-members; Music Department and staff listened as members of the instrumental scheme performed solos, duets and trios guided by their tutors Olwen Sheil-Cello and Double Bass, and Emer Collins-Violin and Viola. Zara Kelly, 6th year, Violin and Megan Dobbs, 6th year, Cello (member of Co. Wexford Youth Orchestra-most recent performance in NCH) were in the audience as special invited guests, having played with the orchestra since 1st year.

MS Readathon 2017

Certificates and token prizes were awarded to all students who took part in this year's MS Readathon. All of the students who volunteered to be involved collected sponsorship per book read. The students gained an understanding of the work of the MS Society in helping people live with the disease of Multiple Sclerosis, they read a large number of books and were able to make a donation to the work of the MS Society. Deputy Principal, Conor Berry thanked and congratulated all of the students who took part.   

Trip to Dunmore East Adventure Centre

A number of our students travelled to Dunmore East Adventure Centre on Thursday 11th May 2017 for a unique and exciting school tour! Students got the opportunity to take part in various water and land sports including the Wibit Wipe out Aquapark, Kayaking, Pedal boats, Climbing, Caving and Archery.
