On Tuesday 3rd October, 54 3rd Year students from the Oak, Birch, Alder and Ash classes travelled to Sheilbaggan Outdoor Education Centre for a day full of adventure.
The 6th Year Leaving Certificate Applied students were on a school trip to Dublin as part of their course work for PE and Hotel, Catering and Tourism. The first stop was Croke Park, where they had a guided tour. They were first brought to the museum where they saw the old Sam Maguire and Liam Mc Carthy cups, they then had a tour of the dressing rooms, bar/lounge finishing up with the stadium.
This year's Open Night for incoming students to 1st Year in Enniscorthy Vocational College took place last Tuesday 26th September at the school’s campus. The weather played its part in providing a beautiful autumn evening, as a large number of parents/guardians gathered with their children to see what the College had to offer. Visitors had the choice to join a tour or to examine the campus at their own leisure on the night.
Extra! Extra! A new student newspaper, The Mile Post, has been launched at EVC. A team of student journalists and photographers have produced a quality publication. All of the content is written BY students and FOR students; a mix of latest news, articles, features, notices and a “what’s on?” section notifying students of the details of all extra- curricular activities and sports training times etc. This is the first of five issues to be printed this year.
Our Second-Level Open Night for incoming new entrants (September, 2018) will take place in the school on Tuesday night next 26th September - 6pm.-8pm. This is a great opportunity for parents to meet our teachers, discuss educational options/subjects and view our excellent facilities.
Twenty-one Leaving Cert students travelled to Carnesore Point on Thursday 21st of September to carry out the mandatory Field Work element of the Leaving Biology course.
The E.V.C. 2017/2018 Student Enterprise Club was launched on Tuesday 19th September by Ms Emer Doyle Co-Ordinator of Student Enterprise, Local Enterprise Office, Wexford. The Enterprise Club is an after school club for first and second year students. This club will commence on Tuesday 3rd October at 4.10p.m. Students can sign up by calling to Ms A. Walsh in Room 201 for a permission slip.
Our 6th Year students went to explore their progression options at The Irish Times Higher Options Expo today. They were accompanied by Ms. Kennedy, Ms. Byrne and SNA, Amanda Montague. One student described it as 'the best day of my life' becoming aware of all the potential pathways of learning available after their leaving certificate!
A limited number of places are available in our instrument scheme this school year. EVC students who wish to study Violin, Viola, Cello, Double Bass, Clarinet and Flute can apply now for a place in the scheme. Total fee is €50 per term. Parents/guardians can pay this fee online. No payment is to be made until requested. Tutors are professional musicians employed by the school. Forms are available from Ms. Brídín.Kelly in Room 25 and students are asked to return applications by Monday 11th September. We provide the instrument and books for each individual. The school expects that pupils treat equipment with great care at all times, while remaining the property of Enniscorthy Vocational College. Tutors rotate lesson times on Wednesdays so that students do not miss the same subject every week.
Many thanks to the staff members who gave generously of their time and expertise in the running of the Induction Programme for our new 1st year students. As in previous years, a wide variety of activities was laid on for our new recruits which gave them a chance to settle in to their new school and also an opportunity to make new friends.
Good Luck to all our Leaving Certificate students who will receive their results tomorrow Wednesday, 16th August. Results will be available in the school from 9.30am. onwards.
