The 2 Alder class spent a day in Wicklow on Thursday 30th Nov. After a brisk walk in Glendalough students cooked sausages and made tea by the Upper Lake. During a drive over the Sally Gap they picked out geographical features.
Our Further Education (PLC) Open Night will take place next Tuesday 5th December from 6pm. to 8pm. All 6th Year Leaving Certificate students and mature students very welcome.
College Awareness week was experienced by our 3rd Year HAPPIE students in Waterford Institute of Technology on Wednesday 22nd November. They were accompanied by Ms. Kennedy (Deputy Principal) and Johanna Murphy, SNA. Students engaged in STEM activities with CALMAST (Science Education), Creative Arts and Sporting Activities. They lunched in the college canteen, along with visiting the various information stalls on display. A fun day was had by all who participated and it is hoped that the day will encourage more of our students to pursue Third Level education.
Condolences to the Reck family on the sad passing of Ger. Ger was a 6th Year Leaving Certificate student at Enniscorthy Vocational College and his passing is mourned by the whole school community, where he will be greatly missed.
As part of the events to mark Science Week (Nov.12th-19th),the 5th year Biology students from Enniscorthy Vocational College attended the WexSci Science Showcase Day in the Wexford County Council buildings on Friday November 17th. The students had an opportunity to explore the many Science and Technology exhibitions on 'The Street' in the County Council buildings before attending a performance of 'It Takes Guts'. The show, presented by the London Science Museum, was a graphic account and display of the workings of the human digestive system. The performance was most informative, entertaining and certainly tested the fainthearted in the audience!
The school has stood up in support of our LGBTI+ community by raising the rainbow flag as part of STAND UP week. There was great support from staff and students as the flag was raised to a loud applause. It serves as a reminder to us all that everybody (regardless of sexual orientation) should feel safe at EVC and that we will never tolerate homophobic bullying.
Tonight, Wednesday 18th October, UCD Access & Lifelong Learning will hold an information session on HEAR and DARE and other alternative pathways to University in the Ferrycarrig Hotel, Wexford from 7pm. to 9pm.
On advice from the Department of Education, EVC will remain closed tomorrow Tues. 17th Oct.
Due to Storm Ophelia, EVC will remain closed tomorrow Monday 16th October, on health and safety grounds.
Declan Browne Team Building Day is cancelled tomorrow Mon. 16th and will be re-scheduled for a few week's time. This is due to the unavailability of the facilitator. Classes for 6th Year students as normal.
