A leap forward for the 2018/19 Transition Year class - Shielbaggan Trip

By evcadmin Sunday, 2nd September 2018 | 0 comments
The first trip of the year for the  Enniscorthy Vocational College Transition Year class took place to Sheilbaggan Outdoor Education Centre on Friday 31st August.  Fears of heights and water were the topic of conversation on the bus journey to the centre. Reminders of challenging yourself and getting out of your comfort zone from Ms. Parker (Class Tutor) and Mr. Maher, TY Co-Ordinator eased their nerves. The students participated in coast steering, rock climbing, archery, caving and rope challenges. Many fears were conquered, fun was had by all and the weather held up. . In addition to the many activities on offer, it was a great team bonding day.

Creating Writing in Co Wicklow

It was a beautiful bright day for the 2 Holly class trip on Thursday. After a trot around the lakes at Glendalough, a team was organised to cook sausages and make tea for lunch. Eating in the great outdoors gave everyone an appetite. A drive across the spectacular Wicklow Gap while picking out geographical features brought the class to a creative writing centre in Glencree. Fighting Words Tutors were waiting for the students and worked with them over the next couple of hours developing individual pieces of writing. English teacher Mr Stack, Librarian Ms Quinn and SNA Sharon enjoyed the day as much as the students! We appreciate greatly the Fighting Words team and facilities and the good deal we got from the Saucy Butcher in Enniscorthy!!
